Supporting charitable causes at Gidea Park

At Gidea Park College, we encourage participation in both national and international charities. However, our main focus is on local causes and we have a ‘Charity of the Year’ which is chosen by the House system. We believe that supporting these causes enables our pupils to look beyond their own lives to develop the skills of empathy and understanding which will make them such positive citizens in their futures.

We are very proud of the constant effort and generosity of our pupils and their parents and last year we raised around £4,000 for a variety of charities. We organised a wide variety of events including a Pre-School Teddy Bear’s Picnic and Walk which raised £720 for local children’s hospital wards and a PFA Ball which raised £1,200 (half of which went to Saint Francis Hospice).

We also raised £500 for Comic Relief and £340 for Macmillan Cancer Care. We are particularly proud of our School Secretary who raised an amazing £900 running the Brentwood Half Marathon for J’s Hospice.

The school teaches our children being kind and showing a community spirit.
