Paul Gobey, left in 1977
After leaving GPC in 1977, I spent 7 years at Chigwell School, followed by an undergraduate course at the Royal College of Music and teacher training at the Insitute of Education.
I have been Organist of the Norwegian Church in London since 1990 and after my first teaching post at Forest School (under the then Director of Music who is the current Lord of Mayor of London!), I spent a year teaching and playing the organ in Norway. 15 years was then spent teaching at St Dunstan's College in SE London (first as Assistant, then as Director of Music), followed by a Masters course in Choral Studies at Cambridge University, since when I have freelanced in music as an organist, conductor and examiner for ABRSM (music grades).
I am an active member of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, and am currently President of their Livery Club. I live by the river in Rotherhithe, but frequently visit my mother in Gidea Park and pass GPC with some fond memories that are now 40 years old!
